Fuel Filter
A frequently overlooked tune-up component is the fuel filter. While modern gasoline is highly refined, contaminants can still get in fuel anywhere from the filling of the transport truck to particles in your own gas tank. Little bits of dirt and other material can clog injectors and grind away at your fuel pump. A clogged fuel filter can cause poor performance, hesitation and bad fuel mileage. Toyota does not have a service interval for the fuel filter, though it is not meant to be a lifetime item. Any extreme conditions, off-roading, high mileage, age, time the vehicle sits without being driven, high humidity, etc. can contribute to making a fuel filter less effective. A new fuel filter is inexpensive insurance especially considering the cost of more expensive components like repairing or replacing fuel injectors.
We also have the Banjo Bolts for either side of this filter (which uses 2), see Part #: 1070009
