5 of 5 1998 Tacoma with TRD Supercharger - Bypass Valve August 16, 2024

Check engine light turned on with lean condition code. Checked for vacuum leaks and found the supercharger bypass valve to be the  issue. Unfortunately, these diaphragms don't seem to last very long. I purchased the last one about 5 years ago. I purchased another from LCE. Received part  in a few days. The correct part was shipped. Tested valve with a vacuum source. No leaks. Actuator performed smoothly. I set the actuator stop to same length as my previous actuator. Installed valve on supercharger and tested. Valve worked as expected with and without vacuum applied. I  did notice the new actuator has a brass plug in the vacuum inlet  with a small hole. This would slow down the movement of the bypass valve in and out of boost. I don't know if this was to solve an issue with bypass valve moving too quickly. But the valve seemed to work properly. Vacuum leak is gone. No  more lean codes.

4 of 5 I lucked out May 26, 2023

My SC’er wasn’t building boost properly and was basically siphoning oil from the PCV valve which I thought clogged up the BPV vacuum line fitting as it would open around 4k rpm’s right to peak boost.  Ordered a new BOV bc why not, spend money first, trouble shoot later, right?  Yep, ended up my belt was just slipping regardless how tight I made it.  Glad I have a spare though as I’ve heard they getting harder to come by but who knows. The site does say something like “ships in 3-4wks” but I got mine in probably12 days I think and I’m across the country from LCE.  Only reason a 4* rating is bc I havent  opened the plastic or tested it yet.  Looks good through the plastic haha
