Crankshaft Scraper

During regular engine operation, a significant amount of oil adheres to or becomes entrained in, a cloud surrounding the spinning bottom end. This oil eats up the horsepower your engine is making by increasing the rotating mass and also creating parasitic drag. A crank scraper mechanically strips off excess oil by coming close to, but not touching, the moving crankshaft and rods. It also interferes with the pressure differential that draws oil into the windage cloud.
Our crank scrapers are constructed from steel and include installation instructions. The scrapers are installed between the oil pan and engine block or along with the main bearing caps. Some fitting to your engine may be required, and the procedure for carefully checking this is explained in the installation instructions.

More importantly, they are currently in use in a variety of OEM engines of both large and small displacement -- from relatively low RPM V-8 engines to high RPM straight fours. Most auto enthusiasts are surprised to learn just how common they are. In short, it is an extremely well-proven technology that is often not recognized.

The LC Pro Crankshaft Scraper will decrease crank windage and drag by removing excess oil from the crankshaft while reducing oil foaming, producing increased horsepower and longevity.
Installation Instructions:
1. Install crank scraper with the angled portion of the scraper on the exhaust side of the block, pointing towards the top of the block. With the crank and rods installed in block, rotate and check the clearance between crank/rods and scraper. Minimum clearance .100" required. Modify scraper accordingly.
2. On oil pans that use a silicone seal, apply a 5mm bead of silicone on both sides of the scraper and install the oil pan. Torque bolts to approx. 9 Ft.-Lbs.
3. On oil pans that use a gasket seal apply a 5mm bead of silicone on the block side of the scraper and use a gasket on the oil pan side of the scraper. Install oil pan and torque bolts to approx. 9 Ft.-Lbs.
4. Turn the engine over by hand to assure proper clearance.
